Emma Dyer

Student
Department of Data Science, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Emma received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The University of Chicago where she studied Biological Sciences and Bioinformatics. She completed her Master’s work under the supervision of Dr. Alexander Pearson. She studied computational pathology, where she applied deep learning models for biomarker identification and survival prediction of patients with head and neck cancers. This work, alongside additional projects in live-cell image tracking and processing, led her to find an interest in quantifying tumor heterogeneity with spatial statistics and identifying novel applications of multi-modal spatial datasets. This allowed her to better model tumor evolution and develop a more complete understanding of how intra-tumor heterogeneity impacts treatment and survival outcomes. Outside the lab, Emma enjoys running with her Battle Road Track Club teammates, spending time outdoors with her dogs, and continuing her quest to find the best Latin American food in Boston.
